Welcome to Holder School!

Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! My name is Jason Blade, and I am ecstatic to serve as your child’s principal. Holder School, home of the Hawks, is a beautiful campus in southwest Buena Park where we believe in giving every child a chance every single day to reach their full academic, social and emotional potential. We believe that parents are important partners in supporting students on their academic journey as they learn to be reflective and engaged learners.

The Holder staff believe that each child possesses distinctive talents and potential that are ready to be cultivated. Our committed teachers and support staff endeavor to establish a nurturing and all-embracing atmosphere, fostering the academic, social, and emotional growth of every student, enabling them to flourish. Our dedication lies in delivering a comprehensive education that extends beyond mere academic achievement. We prioritize character development, critical thinking, and creativity, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience for our students.

Educational excellence is our goal for each and every student; our exceptional staff works diligently to ensure success for all of our students.  At Holder School, we focus on teaching the Common Core State Standards. We use the Go Math curricula and Benchmark Advance English Language Arts curricula. Our goal is to provide our students with the necessary skills to become proficient and successful creative problem solvers, critical thinkers, and collaborators.

Holder Hawks are truly Honorable, Accountable, Welcoming, Kind, and Scholarly; they take great pride in their learning and I have no doubt they will be prepared for anything they choose to do in life. It is our belief that when staff and students have common expectations and we are all working together to create a safe, healthy environment, it sets the stage for everyone to be successful and ensures that our students are meeting their true Holder Hawk potential.

I feel fortunate to work with such a dedicated, professional, caring staff and be able to serve an amazingly supportive community. In order to continue the momentum we have built over the last few years, we plan to build on our academic and social excellence. By fine-tuning our academic engagement strategies and strengthening our Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies (PBIS) we will engage students both in and out of the classroom, challenging them to become the HAWKS they can be.

I can’t wait to celebrate our students’ successes in the areas of academic achievement and growth, citizenship, music and athletics during our weekly flag ceremonies as well as our trimester awards assemblies. I am so very proud of our students and staff and can’t wait to get started with the 2023-24 school year!

Holder School's Instructional Program

Our instructional strategies and practices are aligned with the Common Core State Standards. Holder staff members provide our students with a high caliber learning experience in a caring and nurturing environment so that students feel valued and respected. We desire that all of our students develop and maintain a love for learning!  We are continuing our focus on Benchmark Advance, including working with students toward mastering academic vocabulary, becoming fluent readers with analytical thinking skills, and learning to communicate through writing.  These are critical to a student’s continued success in their educational journey!  These skills will be stressed through Distance Learning at all grade levels as we continue to equip our students to build for their future success.

Holder School is a community of caring people whose goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment where students feel included, respected and valued. Our dedicated staff is committed to upholding these expectations by being proactive in addressing student needs and concerns. We expect students to display the traits of being Holder H.A.W.K.S. - Honorable, Accountable, Welcoming, Kind, Scholarly.
