The Savanna School District offers a variety of early learning programs for children starting at age of two through the B.R.I.G.H.T. Learners Academy. These programs continue until children are prepared to enter Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten. The B.R.I.G.H.T. Learners Academy, which stands for "Build, Realize, Imagine, Grow, Harvest, Thrive," is run by the district to ensure that the curriculum and learning environment are consistent with the district's educational goals and standards.
Program options include both state-subsidized programs, which are financially supported by the California Department of Social Services, and parent-paid programs, where the cost is covered by the parents.
We encourage all families to apply for our high-quality programs, and we will work with them to find a spot for their child.
The B.R.I.G.H.T. Learners Academy program provides a safe and encouraging learning environment for children ages 2 through the start of kindergarten. Our teachers nurture curiosity and understand that every child is unique, supporting each child's individual strengths and interests. We know that children learn best at their own pace and through play, which is why our early learning programs incorporate thoughtfully planned, hands-on experiences with real people and real objects. These activities foster a lifelong love of learning, beginning at a young age.
Teachers support independent play by providing developmentally appropriate materials and activities that encourage curiosity and challenge children. This play helps children build critical thinking, self-reliance, and confidence. Teachers guide learning by asking open-ended questions that promote further thinking and reflection. They respect individual differences by monitoring each child's progress and adjusting activities to suit various abilities and interests.
Building a child's self-esteem and fostering a positive attitude towards learning are our top priorities. Our program aims to nurture confident and capable individuals by providing opportunities for growth in all areas, including social-emotional, self-help, adaptive, physical, cognitive, and language development.
